Willy

Willy started with a thought to clutch,
Soon he took it wandering
In and out through mirrors of doubt in stages.
Never thought he would amount to much,
And everyone agreed.
Looking down at hundreds of empty pages,
He finally touched upon a feeling for a vague idea
He could not stop pondering,
Round and round in manuscripts bound in circles,
Never willing to enjoy the ride,
Always questioning to fight the tide,
He never listened to the voice inside:

“You cry out, but only from afar,
You should stand up and show us who you are
You could wake up and make each morning pure
If you would know for sure forever to be sure…”

Willy stood and stared into the sun,
Muttered foolish prayers for everyone,
And longed to be secure….

Willy tried to play a simple game,
But all the rules went past him,
Spent his days spinning in a maze of fluster –
Always threatening to take his life
And everyone approved.
Tried to find a woman but he could not trust her.
He finally hopped into the shower and he faced the day,
Predestined to outlast him,
Made his bed in the middle of the dreaded cluster.
Never willing to admit the wrong,
Always questioning the written song,
He never fit in, never did belong!

You cry out but only from afar
You should stand up and show us who you are
Willy cried from the wilderness –
Wide-eyed with wonder –
He cried “Love is the answer
To the questions in the world!”
He cried from the wilderness:
“Love is the answer!
Love is the answer to it all…”

Willy started with a thought to clutch
Soon he took it wandering
In and out through mirrors of doubt in stages…
